Nile humanitarian development agency in partnership with Embrace relief a non-governmental international humanitarian aid and development organization based in the USA and light academy schools with support from the Ministry of Education, African union and the US embassy in Uganda are implemented a project called ACT-US (Accessible computer technology for underserved students) aimed at improving the educational outcomes in regions of Uganda with limited access to computers. In this project a total of 156 computers equipped with endless OS technology were distributed to Uganda’s local schools. These operating systems are specifically designed to provide educational resources to students with limited access to internet and technology. The computers are pre-installed with applications dedicated to general school subjects such as physics, chemistry biology, history and many others. The opening ceremony was held on the 20th of February 2021 at Kitala secondary school in Wakiso district –Uganda. The guest of honor was the State Minister for Education Hon. Rose Mary Sseninde who also doubles as the area member of parliament. The beneficiary schools in this project included Mende kalema secondary school, JJungo secondary school, Kitala secondary school Aggerey memorial secondary school, Namuloge secondary school, Buwambo secondary school, Nagulu seed secondary school all in Wakiso district, Bubinga secondary school in bugweri district, Wanyange secondary school in Jinja and Kisowera secondary school in Mukono district, each school received fifteen computer.
