Healing Beyond Borders
In remote areas with no clinics, NHDA’s mobile medical camps offer free screenings, malaria treatment, maternal care, and cataract surgeries—restoring sight to the elderly and hope to families. We distribute mosquito nets, deworming tablets, and hygiene kits while training community health workers. Preventative care and health education reduce preventable deaths, creating a healthier Uganda.
We host free medical camps and train health workers to reach the unreached.

Free Medical Camps and Outreaches
Access to quality healthcare remains a challenge in many parts of Uganda.
NHDA runs mobile medical camps and outreaches in underserved communities to bridge this gap. These camps offer general consultations, treatment for common illnesses, minor surgeries, maternal health services, and referrals for critical cases. Trained medical professionals, including doctors and nurses, volunteer their time to serve hundreds of patients over a few days.
These medical outreaches are life-saving for people who would otherwise go without care due to distance or financial barriers. They also help reduce the burden on overwhelmed rural health centers. NHDA often collaborates with local health officials to ensure follow-up care and to refer complicated cases. By bringing services directly to the people, NHDA helps prevent the escalation of minor conditions into serious illnesses.
Personal Medical Support
Beyond community-wide interventions, NHDA also supports individuals with specific medical needs.
This includes covering costs for surgeries, specialized treatment, laboratory tests, or emergency transport to referral hospitals. The focus is usually on cases where families are too poor to afford life-saving treatment for their loved ones.
Many of the beneficiaries are children, elderly persons, or patients with chronic illnesses who would have otherwise been left to suffer. Each case is assessed individually to ensure transparency and accountability. NHDA believes that even one life saved makes a difference, and this personalized approach reflects the organization’s commitment to compassion and human dignity.
Free Cataract Surgeries and Treatment
Loss of vision due to cataracts is a major issue among the elderly in Uganda, yet treatment is often inaccessible.
NHDA organizes cataract surgery camps where affected individuals receive free surgery and post-operative care. These interventions not only restore vision but also restore independence, allowing people to work, care for themselves, and move around safely.
The joy expressed by beneficiaries after regaining their sight is profound. For many, it means the ability to read again, recognize loved ones, or return to small income-generating activities. These surgeries are made possible through partnerships with eye clinics and volunteer surgeons. NHDA’s cataract interventions have transformed lives, especially in regions where public eye care services are rare or nonexistent.
